Princeton Residents,
You may have heard that Google is planning to launch an experiment that will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. They plan to test fiber-based, ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country.
Wouldn’t it be great if Princeton were selected!
While our current network is so much better than dialup, we are not positioned well to deal with future bandwidth requirements -- streaming video, radio, phone, etc. -- which require in excess of 2Mb/sec service. The Google network will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster -- over 1 gigabit per second.
On behalf of PMLD, I have already responded to Google’s Request for information (RFI). Please support our nomination as a member of our community.
In your response, you might want to mention that:
· We are an “under-served” community. Our town is not served by any cable provider and Verizon DSL is available only in a very small part of town.
· PMLD will make a “right-of-way” available on every utility pole in town for Google.
· Our municipal light department is already quite innovative as demonstrated by these other projects:
- Recently commissioned the largest operating wind farm in the State (www.pmld.com).
Please help out by supporting Princeton’s submittal and our community’s Broadband needs!
